Committees

Representatives of the region’s five primary industry clusters – aerospace, healthcare and life sciences, specialty chemical, maritime, and tourism – meet to address issues of mutual interest to the respective companies.

Aerospace Advisory Committee (AAC) – Chair, Brian Freedman: The AAC works on behalf of the aerospace industry in support of human space exploration and the commercialization of space. The committee focuses on current trends with the space sector, and works closely with local, state, and federal elected officials. The AAC supports other aerospace initiatives including Team NASA, Space Center Volunteers, and Citizens for Space Exploration. Meets 1^st Wednesday every month - from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM

Annual Banquet Committee – Chair, Marcus Havican: Plans and prepares for the Annual Quasar Award banquet, held in January. Meets 3^rd Thursday – from 11:30 AM – 12:30 AM (Beginning in August) 

Citizens for Space Exploration (CSE)-Texas – Chair, Kelly Page: The mission of Citizens for Space Exploration is to promote awareness of the benefits of America's Human Space Exploration Program and to support NASA. Ad Hoc

Education and Workforce Development Committee (EWDC) – Chair, Harv Hartman: The EWDC collaborates to create a world-class education and training community, advocates for education, shares best practices, supports regional economic development, and establishes partnerships between academia and industry. Meets 3^rd Thursday – from 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Energy Committee – Chair, Christian Peters: The Energy Committee supports, advises, and advocates on matters relating to the region’s biggest energy-related concerns.  Last Wednesday of every month from 12:00 PM-1:15 PM

Healthcare Committee (HCC) – Chair, Jennifer Anderson:  The HCC encourages collaboration between health care provider investors to improve the overall health status of the community and highlights the economic benefits of the health care industry in the region. Meets Quarterly

International Maritime Advisory Committee (IMAC) – Chair, Retired Senator Larry Taylor: The IMAC supports, advises, and advocates on matters relating to the region’s maritime industry, ports, and supporting intermodal transportation infrastructure. The committee also reviews and makes recommendations on strategic and policy level decisions to improve the overall operating environment. Meets 3^rd Thursday of every month from 8:00 AM – 9:15 AM

Membership Engagement Committee – Chair, Elizabeth Smith: The Membership Engagement Committee facilitates networking and exchange of ideas and suggests ways to enhance member satisfaction as well as focus on the overall goals of BAHEP.  Ad Hoc

Military Affairs Committee – Chair, Brian Freedman: The Military Affairs Committee fosters collaboration between the military community and the region. The committee focuses on regional initiatives, Veteran advocacy, and infrastructure improvements to advance the region’s military interests. Meets 1st Tuesday of every month from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Political Protocol Committee (PPC) – Chair, Teri Crawford: The PPC provides a forum for discussion, and outreach on issues affecting businesses in Bay Area Houston to elected officials, candidates and other key individuals. Meets 2^nd Wednesday of every month from 4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Public Safety Committee – Chair, RJ Boatman: The Public Safety Committee fosters collaboration among local public safety entities, businesses, and community leaders. The committee aims to enhance public safety, support economic development, and drive innovative community well-being solutions.  Meets 2nd Thursday of every month from 8:30 AM – 9:30 AM

Servicemembers Mentoring Committee – Chair, Matthew Berg: The program provides pre-separation career mentoring to Service Members who desire to explore careers represented in BAHEP's membership. Mentors from one of BAHEP’s member companies provide insight into the veterans desired post military career field. The insight provided by the mentor helps the veteran adjust their transition planning to ensure they leave the service with employment options. Meets 3rd Wednesday of every month from 3:30 PM – 5:00 PM

Small Business Committee (SBC) – Chair, Amy Reid: The purpose of the SBC is to help small businesses grow by creating an environment for opportunity and advancement. Meets 1st Wednesday of every month from 7:30 AM – 9:00 AM

Space City Workforce Committee – Chair, Brady Pyle: The Space City Workforce Committee enhances partnerships across Human Resources (HR) and workforce development professionals among NASA/JSC contractors and other aerospace corporations with the expressed goal to support the Space City workforce, so each company has the talent needed to fulfill its mission. Meets 2nd Tuesday of every month from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Team NASA/Space Center Volunteers – Chair, Joyce Abbey: Team NASA aims to build a seamless partnership with NASA Johnson Space Center to enhance employee, contractor and community activities by providing coordinated planning, organization, communication and a process to review events to determine the overall value to all participants. Meets 1^st Thursday of every month from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

Tourism Committee – Chair, Cesar Garcia: The Tourism Committee promotes the area’s attractions, coordinates events, and builds partnerships between industry leaders, and member cities. Meets 1st Friday every month from 8:30 - 10:00 AM
