Message From The President

The Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership (BAHEP) had a monumental year in 2025. We launched our new five-year strategic plan, assumed a leadership role in the Texas Aerospace Scholars program, and welcomed a record number of new members; all while continuing to advance economic growth across our region.

This 2025 Annual Report theme, “The Next Horizon,” reflects both our accomplishments in 2025 and our focus on the future, especially as we celebrate BAHEP’s 50th anniversary in 2026. The Bay Area Houston region continues to grow and thrive, and we are excited about the amazing economic development opportunities ahead.

In 2025, we launched a Tourism Committee. Our region has an exceptional tourism foundation with titans like Space Center Houston, the Kemah Boardwalk, the Lone Star Flight Museum, the growing cruise industry, and increasing sports facilities. We are excited to see how this industry will continue to grow in the coming years.

This year, we are looking forward to the completion of the Texas A&M Space Institute next to NASA Johnson Space Center that will play a momentous role in studying lunar and Martian surfaces replicating them for mission training and aeronautics research. The 88th Texas Legislature appropriated $200 million for its development.

Collaboration remains at the heart of our work. BAHEP regularly engages leaders at every level of government. At the local level, we convene our Mayor’s Council and meet with city managers and economic developers. At the regional and state level, we meet with our elected county and state officials and on the federal level, we engage federal leaders and staff in a variety of ways, including hosting them to interact with our members.

The success of BAHEP is driven by these strong partnerships. The BAHEP team is appreciative of the support and the active participation of our members, elected officials, and community partners. By bringing together industry, government, academia, and nonprofit leaders, we continue to build a stronger, more prosperous future for the Bay Area Houston region.

I invite you, our members, to lean on the organization where my staff or I can be helpful. Come by our offices and meet, chat, contribute, volunteer, or serve on a committee. New opportunities, innovations, and horizons lie ahead, and BAHEP is ready to lead the way.

Sincerely,

Brian Freedman
