BAHEP does its work through member-driven committees. Business and community leaders meet throughout the year to advise elected officials, back NASA Johnson Space Center, strengthen the region’s workforce and mentor transitioning service members.

A benefit of membership
Committees are open to BAHEP member organizations, and members are welcome on as many as they like. Your organization’s lead member can bring colleagues in too. The Aerospace Advisory Committee has an additional annual fee.

Industry & economy
Member companies in the region’s industry clusters take on shared issues and shape BAHEP’s advocacy with elected officials.

Aerospace Advisory CommitteeAAC
Works on behalf of the aerospace industry in support of human space exploration and the commercialization of space. The committee tracks current trends in the space sector and works closely with local, state and federal elected officials. It also supports Team NASA, Space Center Volunteers and Citizens for Space Exploration.
Additional annual fee. AAC participation carries an annual charge, in addition to BAHEP membership, that funds the committee’s trip to Washington, D.C., committee meals and other aerospace initiatives the committee approves.

International Maritime Advisory CommitteeIMAC
Supports, advises and advocates for the region’s maritime industry, ports and intermodal transportation infrastructure, and makes recommendations on strategic and policy decisions that improve the overall operating environment.

Energy Committee
Supports, advises and advocates on the region’s biggest energy-related issues.

Healthcare CommitteeHCC
Encourages collaboration among member health care providers to improve the overall health of the community, and highlights the economic benefits of the health care industry in the region.

Promotes the area’s attractions, coordinates events and builds partnerships among industry leaders and member cities.

Small Business CommitteeSBC
Helps small businesses grow by creating an environment for opportunity and advancement.
Space community
Grassroots support for NASA Johnson Space Center and America’s human spaceflight program.

Team NASA/Space Center Volunteers
Builds a seamless partnership with NASA Johnson Space Center to enhance employee, contractor and community activities through coordinated planning, organization and communication, and reviews events to determine their value to all participants.

Citizens for Space Exploration–TexasCSE
Promotes awareness of the benefits of America’s human space exploration program and supports NASA.
Workforce & education
Connecting employers, schools and transitioning service members to build the region’s talent pipeline.

Education & Workforce Development CommitteeEWDC
Works to create a world-class education and training community: advocating for education, sharing best practices, supporting regional economic development and building partnerships between academia and industry.

Space City Workforce Committee
Strengthens partnerships among HR and workforce development professionals at NASA/JSC contractors and other aerospace companies, so each company has the talent it needs to fulfill its mission.

Servicemembers Mentoring CommitteeSMC
Provides pre-separation career mentoring to service members exploring careers represented in BAHEP’s membership. Mentors from member companies share insight into each veteran’s chosen field, helping them adjust their transition plans so they leave the service with employment options.

Government, military & public safety
Keeping elected officials, military leaders and first responders in close contact with the business community.

Political Protocol CommitteePPC
Provides a forum for discussion and outreach to elected officials, candidates and other key leaders on issues affecting Bay Area Houston businesses.

Military Affairs Committee
Fosters collaboration between the military community and the region, focusing on regional initiatives, veteran advocacy and infrastructure improvements that advance the region’s military interests.

Public Safety Committee
Brings together local public safety agencies, businesses and community leaders to enhance public safety, support economic development and drive innovative solutions for community well-being.

Building a stronger membership and BAHEP’s signature event.

Membership Engagement Committee
Facilitates networking and the exchange of ideas, and suggests ways to improve member satisfaction while advancing BAHEP’s overall goals.

Annual Banquet Committee
Plans the annual Quasar Award banquet, held each January.
Governance
The elected bodies that set BAHEP’s direction. Seats are filled by election or appointment, so these have no distribution lists to join.

Board of Directors
Guides BAHEP’s direction and governance. Up to 48 directors are nominated and elected by the membership to serve up to two consecutive three-year terms.

Executive Committee
Elected each year by the directors from among the Board to keep BAHEP’s operations timely and efficient. Up to 13 members, chaired by the Chair of the Board.

Finance Committee
A subcommittee of the Board that meets when a financial matter warrants its review.
