Special Initiatives
BAHEP’s mission is to provide the leadership to attract, retain, and expand industry within the region which it accomplishes using an established set of procedures. Occasionally, the needs of the region require a customized focus above and beyond BAHEP’s standard activities. BAHEP’s Special Initiatives often provide the momentum to greatly improve the business environment and quality of life of the people of Bay Area Houston.

Coastal Texas Project
The Coastal Texas Project is a 6 year, $20.7M comprehensive study led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in partnership with its non-federal cost-share sponsor, the Texas General Land Office. The purpose of the study is to identify feasible projects that reduce risks to public health and the economy, restore critical ecosystems, and advance coastal resiliency.

Citizens for Space Exploration
The mission of Citizens for Space Exploration is to promote awareness of the benefits of America's Human Space Exploration Program and support for NASA. This is a multi-state organization comprised of U.S. taxpayers who support America's investment in human space exploration comprise of private citizens, small business owners, students, teachers, space and non-space business representatives, and county and municipal officials.

Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP)
The Space Alliance Technology Outreach Program (SATOP) is a State of Texas-funded program administered by the Bay Area Houston Economic Partnership. For the development of innovative products, SATOP provides FREE technical assistance to small businesses, start-ups, and entrepreneurs located in Texas. This assistance in turn helps create new jobs, new products for the market, and stimulates the economy.

Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES)
BAHEP is partnering with the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station (TEES) through their Texas Defense Aerospace Manufacturing Community (TDMAC) Consortium to lead a new Smart Manufacturing initiative in the Houston and Galveston regions.

Texas Aerospace Scholars (TAS)
Texas Aerospace Scholars (TAS), a state-funded initiative that promotes STEM education and workforce development across Texas, is entering its 27th year. Its flagship program, High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS), offers a free, year-long experience for high school juniors, beginning with a five-month online course focused on NASA missions, space exploration, Earth science, and aeronautics.
